Seriously, how are they going to pick that up? At the end of Omega, everyone got nuked. Where in time did they say that the AOA one shot with Absorbing man took place (where everyone went to the moon and fought the inhumans)?

Meh.

as long as we have AOA + Bachalo's art = happness
Big Grim
the new mini will take place one year after Omega, and the one shot explains how they survived. So you'll just have to wait and see.

Looks great.

Bachalo's art style has really grown on me over the years. I didn't use to like the way some of his stuff looked, but now I don't know what I was thinking.
Big Grim
begins next week, woooooooooooooooot!
Starscreamer
looks like it's being written by the same guy who is writing X4...who is this Akira Yoshida guy anyway? lol just another "Young Gun Writer" I guess...not that I'm complaining...
Krusty The Klown
i gotta go put in my reservations quick!
Tantrum
Well it got started today with the one shot and the first issue of the limited.

The one shot was okay. Introduced the AoA Silver Samurai, who looks like he might have a pretty big role in the limited series. It also had a short story/couple of scenes that showed what happened at the end of X-men: Omega showing what happend with all those nuclear weapons. The one shot also had a Colossus story and a Sabertooth/Wildchild story which were ok. Didn't like the Colossus one all that much, but to each his own.

The limited looks like it is going to be pretty good too. Plenty of conflict all around and judging from the one shot, it looks like Magneto might be hiding something. The only thing that really bothered me, is that it looks like America got back to "normal" pretty damn quick.

What did you guys think?
Big Grim
I liked em, teh Colossus story was cool in that it served as a prequel to Generation Next. I wonder what really stopped the bombs though.
ROSEDOGGYDOG
eh... I never noticed this part of the forum before. hmph... I just thumbed through AoA today and was suprised.

I was a BIG Marvel collector in the 90's (Spider-Man, X-Men, X-Factor, X-Force, Wolverine, 2099 line).

As for the AoA, I have all the originals and then a few years ago (I dunno how long) I saw a comic that already showed them surviving after the nukes hit (Magneto shielded Rogue and some others I believe), BUT I can't seem to remember what happened after that.

Since ReignFire was brought up, how did Sunspot learn to talk Cables language?

I pretty much stopped collecting comics after Operation Zero Tolerance and the Alt. Universe that Franklin created for the "human" heros.

Wow, this brings back memories...

Another question since we're on the AoA. Because Prof. X's kid (can't remember his name) killed him to start AoA - and Marvel characters always find a way to come back to life. Who is the more powerful mutant Franklin Richards or Prof. X's kid? I seem to remember that it was said that if Prof. X's kid got all of his personalities together, he would be the most powerful mutant, but Franklin created a whole freakin universe with a though!
Starscreamer
well the Gen Next prequiel was...eh...but then agani I HAT E Scott Lobdel's writing...I mean I have him on the same level as liefield....everything else was kinda cool...the first issue..hmmm...please don't tell me this mini will revolve around AoA Wolverine...BUT I'm looking forward to seeing more Sinister

There was a "What if.." issue shortly after the AoA ended that was basically "What if the AoA had continued". That had Magneto saving some of the X-men and taking them to the moon. I think it involved the inhumans, the silver surfer, and the watcher.
Big Grim
I think you're right, I vaguely remember that issue
Krusty The Klown
my question is how sinister is alive, didnt he get killed by nate grey towards the end of the 1st vew x-man story arc?
Big Grim
time will tell, I suppose. I hope they focus moreso on actual AoA characters, as opposed to newbies like X-23 and Wolfsbane. I think it's kinda lame that X-23, Xorn, and Beak are in it, but oh well. I'm just excited they're doing this. And they're gonna release 4 trades collecting the original AoA storyline, hell friggin yeah!
Starscreamer
looking forward to getting those trades. As for Sinister...c'mon, it's Mr. Sinister! Ever read the end of Inferno? Yet he is still here today...

heh, good point
Megabolt
I collected the old one is this where the old one ended and the new one spuns off or is it just a re-mastered same storys?
Ultra Magnus
this picks up after the first one ended, one of the stories that was in the one shot that just came out takes place immediatly after the first set ended, the other stories in the one shot are flash back stories, and the new miniseries takes place 1 year after the end of the original set
Big Grim
here's the covers from the mini, looks like they form one image
Tantrum
That looks really good. I love mini series covers that can combine together like that.
Big Grim
I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, but Magneto looks just like Onslaught on that cover. Of course, Onslaught stole the look from Mags to begin with. He was after all the combination of both Xavier and Magneto's dark sides.
Tantrum
He does look a bit like Onslaught, but I think it's just a cool over the shoulder perspective shot. Plus, it will be the last cover of the series and Mags could end up being much more menacing by that time.

Is the third cover the White Queen? It shouldn't be, or at least she shouldn't look that way, because of where she was and how she looked during the AoA Weapon X story.
Big Grim
yeah, Emma got blowed up along with the rest of Europe. So I have no idea who that could be cliffjumper.gif
megagalvatron
I really liked these issue, but as said above don't see the point in Xorn or Beaks mentions (please don't let them be in this wheeliebarf.gif really don't like these characters, do love Exiles but not a fan of Beak). Liked what they did with X23 (can we even call her that as it seems she's not a clone and is Wolverines daughter), but really wish they would focus on the AOA characters and man Sceamer I agree bring on Sinister. Most of all though I can't wait for the original TPB's clap.gif
Galvaspam
I'm kinda let down by last weeks books. I hope this thing picks up in the next couple of issues.

The X-23 character is lame enough without it being in AoA.
Tantrum
So are we assuming that X-23(or whatever she'll be called here) is the daughter of Wolverine and Mariko Yashida? Or someone else?

Beak is lame no matter what continuity he's a part of.
Strikeback
Maybe the "White Queen" is one of the Stepford Cuckoos that Emma trained/taught.
Tantrum
A good thought, but in the AoA Emma Frost looked like she had had her mutant powers removed, via some kind of brain surgery. They never said as such, but she had a very large scar on her head, and was fully accepted by the humans who were plotting to destroy America.

So I don't think that in the AoA she had ever trained anybody. Allthough it could be one of the Cuckoos. Just not related to Emma in any way.
Strikeback
OK...I haven't revisited AoA in forever, so a lot of the continuity is lost for me. I'm definitely picking up the TPBs of the original arc, then buying all of these in one fell swoop. My local comic shop backstocks them so I can do that.
Big Grim
my comic shop has just about all the AoA back issues. I thought about picking them up at one point, but now that the trades are on the way I'll just get those. I'll pick up any issues they leave out of the trades.

it would've been if he had gone with a wooden bat instead of one made of metal
Fortress_Maximus
Thanks goodness I have the original issues for the AoA, Fatal Attractions, Onslaught and Hunt for Xavier. Anyone want to buy them? tounge1.gif pm me.

Maybe, but he got dumped from the Exiles roster because the Timebroker thought he was "useless".
Strikeback
Speaking of the Timebroker...

My buddy has a theory about him--he thinks he's Sinister. He was showing me all these different "clues" he found about him and he was reading some back issues of X-Men and X-Force and AoA and he came to that conclusion. Now, it sounds like a dumb idea, but he did make a compelling argument for it. If I can, I'll see if I can get him onto this board and post his entire theory.
Zombie Rodimus
Waasn't Timebroker once shown with a diamond on his head? That would certainly back up the idea of him being a Mr Sinister from somewhere or other.
Tantrum
I kind of got the feeling that the Timebroker was Sinister as well. I don't really have anything but a gut feeling, but some of the things kind of make sense.

He has a strong connection to the AoA, and often "recruits" exiles from that world. Like Rodimus Max mentioned, the Timebroker has been drawn in the past with some strong visual clues that make him look somewhat like Sinister. The Timebroker has been running his own agenda outside of what his original stated goals were.

Its all speculation, but it would be pretty cool if the AoA Sinister has been running the Exiles this whole time.
Big Grim
issue #2 came out this week. First, teh girl we thought looked like Emma or one of the Cuckoos is actually Dazzler. Xorn's a girl, kinda reminds me of Jocasta. And Beak does not look like Beak. Moving on, I wonder what Magneto's fear induced vision was all about. Looked kinda like Apocalypse harnessing the power of the Phoenix. We also learn more about X-23, looks like she may be the daughter of Logan and Mariko, but only time will tell. Looks like something else is brewing as we see a shadowy figure running some kinda experiment or whatever on his "angel." I'm so glad we get a new issue each week, I don't know if I could stand to wait.
Tantrum
The second issue was excellent. X-23 is turning out to be a pretty interesting character, at least in this continuity.

The "angel"? I wonder if Sinister, or someone else, recovered Warren's body after his suicide attack and we're going to see AoA Archangel.

The weekly issues are nice. I don't think I could wait either.
Big Grim
I don't care who it is, as long as it isn't Jean or somehow involves her resurrection. They need better ideas then "hey, how bout we have the Phoenix in this one?!"
Tantrum
Yeah, the Phoenix really is getting over used, but I have a feeling we're going to see her again. She's really starting to be the catch-all in the Marvel U.

I know, they should change teh name to "The House of Rehashed Ideas"
Strikeback
If Phoenix shows up in "Runaways," then we'll know that they truly have gone dry.
Tantrum
No kidding.

At least in the AoA they have some excuse, since all of that stuff never happened there, but it really feels sort of half-assed. Like they couldn't come up with a big enough threat and pulled out the looming Pheonix as the major angst for the book.

To me it doesn't feel like they need the Pheonix. After just the first two issues they really could have just gone on with the Human vs. Mutants vs. Evil Mutants as the main conflict with Sinister and Magneto battling it out for control of the planet.
Starscreamer
Was nice seeing the Twin get owned...."And you call yourself Canadian?"...best line...really need more Sinister...never enough of that guy!
Big Grim
and of course Northstar dies once again. This guy's the new Kenny. "Oh my God, they killed Northstar. You bastards!"
Tantrum
The guy can't catch a break.

Maybe they should turn it into a running joke and have Wolverine kill Northstar in as many continuities as possible.
Big Grim
yeah, it'd be hilarious if he died in Ultimate X-Men too optimuslaugh2.gif
Krusty The Klown
im really wonderin on the 'angel' inside the tomb
