The thrid issue came out today. It was pretty good. The Guthrie clan attacks, and Xorn isn't who you think she is.
I'm really liking this mini, and I'm glad they went back and decided to give this reality another go around.

where's Elizabeth Guthrie from, I don't remember her. And it's been too long, I don't remember how Paige died. Can anyone fill me in.
Tantrum
Mar 16 2005, 07:16 PM
Elizabeth was a mutant in the AoA, but not in the regular marvel U. She's got giant-man like poweres and was an enforcer under Sinister, along with the Summers brothers, the Bedlam Brothers, and as we saw last issue, Northstar and Aurora. Sinister had a thing for using family groups. I thought that they were killed in the end by the Bedlam brothers, but obviously that wasn't the case.
Paige got left behind by Colossus and Shadowcat, along with the rest of Generation Next, when they were rescuing Illyana from the Sugarman's compound. They needed to get a hold of Illyana because she could teleport through space/time. All of Generation Next was assumed dead because nobody lived after the Sugarman got ahold of them. Obviously this wasn't the case here either.

Mar 16 2005, 07:29 PM
cool, thanks for the info. Who were the Bedlam brothers?
Tantrum
Mar 16 2005, 07:35 PM
I don't remember thier first names...Jesse and James maybe. They caused Bedlam. One could cause mental static and the other could cause mechanical failures. They worked as enforcers for Sinister, but sided with Cyclops in the end, and went up against the Guthries.
They showed up in the regular Marvel U in X-force toward the end of its regular run before Milligan took over and it became X-statix.

Xorn isn't who you think she is.
Xorn never is. First it's Magneto, and now in AoA it's Paige. You'd think that while she was recooperating the doctors woulda been like "hey, her DNA matches Paige's." The X-Men really gotta start making sure new mutants really are who they say they are and not old acquaintances.
Tantrum
Mar 17 2005, 07:17 PM
You'd think the X-men would keep track of that sort of thing.

I'm also really liking this mini and it has some nice supprises. Only grip is I really liked the original AOA because of it's Post-Apocoliptic feel (no pun intended), and this is missing that. I really want it to get into the Magneto Sinister conection. As for the TPB what the heck has happened with it, it was suppost to be out on the fist week of this event where is it. Love this and hope it keeps up with the quality.
Big Grim
Mar 19 2005, 12:35 PM
that was an advertising error, it was never supposed to come out the first week. It's coming out March 30.

Mar 23 2005, 05:11 PM
the handbook and issue #4 came out this week. Damn, Mags is friggin hardcore: he crushed Cannonball alive. And Jean's still alive, big surprise

The profile book left out profiles on characters like Cyclops, Havok, Iceman, Exodus, AoA Morph, Banshee, and Bishop. Which was really cheap, considering all the pages they gave to the Exiles.

well we are finding out about Sinister...in some ways I should have waited till the trade for this mini...but still....DAMN! go back to the begining of this thread. Read all our doubts and worries....and NONE have yet to appear...well save the Jean thing but meh...Them Gurthries went down
Big Grim
Mar 24 2005, 08:50 PM
I didn't have any doubts or worries cuz AoA kicked ass. I was only 12 when it was going on, so I thought the change was permanent. I didn't know it was only going to last 4 months. I always thought it woulda been cool if it had stayed that way, and now we get to see what woulda happened. Hopefully this mini will not be the last we see of the AoA. Cept, it needs a new name since Apocalypse is dead.

age after apocalyps? But how would you handle this? would you allow it to blend with the rest of the Marvle Universe? or just be on it's own like Mutant X was. And then you have the remnants...kind of...now that Sugarman is dead, as well as dark beast I guess...
Big Grim
Mar 25 2005, 09:19 AM
well he was friggin ripped in half, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how all of this turns out. But even if he is alive, his reign has ended. So it doesn't make much sense to keep calling it the Age of Apocalypse. If this did saga did continue, I'd like to see how history progresses in this new world but not have it mingle with the mainstream Marvel U.
Tantrum
Mar 25 2005, 08:27 PM
If it were to continue, separate would be best. A side universe that really doesn't connect to the regular marvel U.

pretty much. I wonder if we'll see Cyclops in this mini, or find out what happened to Morph, Wild Child, Iceman, and Exodus.
Tantrum
Mar 25 2005, 08:38 PM
Iceman is dead. He was killed by Colossus when he went on his little rampage in X-men: Omega. Don't know about the rest though.
Would be interested to see about Cyclops though, and how he and Weapon X would interact.
Big Grim
Mar 25 2005, 08:39 PM
Iceman pulled himself back together. And he went on a secret mission with Exodus, Wild Child, and Morph. It was listed in the handbook, that's why I brought it up. They disappeared and haven't been seen since, they're presumed dead.

that's ok, I kinda figured by your post that you didn't know that. And I know it was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure Omega was the second time Iceman got shattered during AoA. Oh, and seeing Psylocke is kinda cool. I hope we see either more new or alumni AoA characters.

I only saw 5 members of the six (not counting Sinister): Cloak, Sauron, the two chicks, and Jean. I hope they say who the others are.
In other news, the trade came out and it cost $30. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!! But it's worth it.
Tantrum
Mar 30 2005, 06:03 PM
I noticed that about the sinister 6 also...I thought that maybe it was Cloak and Dagger and not just Cloak. That would give him the full number. One of the two chicks might be Siren...kind of looks like her, but you never know. Way too many redheads in the marvel U.
Big Grim
Mar 30 2005, 06:26 PM
well, we really didn't get a good look at the other two. And Sinister didn't bother to introduce them by name. Hopefully we'll find out who they are next week.

If Sauron is there, Siren could be as well. I was thinking the "cloak and dagger" possibility as well. I was under the impression that Sinister was dead after X-man. Guess I was wrong.

Trust me, Sinister has come back from worse...see Inferno. then again he is also my FAVORITE X-badguy...I wrote a lil dedication to why he is so cool in the x-men thread.

Yeah, I guess I should pick up Inferno. I have alway been a big Sinister fan. But at the end of X-man, it looked like he was doing his best to keep his insides on the inside. Nate, with the Summers gene and all, should have been powerful enough to take out Sinister. I guess he was too cool to die.

Thank god I thought my comic shop was shorted again (still waiting on my AOA trade

). I belive it's due to the artist falling behind (see the fallowing interview)
http://www.comicon.com/pulse/O and for your question yes Sauron is a X villian and was a member of the new Weapon X (were the director stipped his intelegence to make him more managable). Also Sauron seems to be the baddie in New Avengers as his human side is Karl Lykos (although Karl doesn't want to be Sauron and there are two diffrent personalities, but with Bendis you never know that could be ignored)

Yeah, he was.
They had their own little traveling circus group. Siren, Mastermind, Toad, Sauron, and some others I think. They were eventually hunted down by Domino (on Sinister's orders), and they were also betrayed from within, by Sinister in disguise.
So it might make some sense that some members of that group were taken in by Sinister and turned into the Sinister Six.

I knew Marvel would find a way to screw this up, I just knew there was no way they were gonna get a six-issue mini out in six weeks

like they got anything else going on. Well, the writer was also working on x4 (which was kinda lame) and has that Wolverine: Soultaker mini coming up. Bastard.
Tantrum
Apr 8 2005, 10:58 AM
The Wolverine mini is has already started (its not too bad) so maybe he did get caught up with other projects.
You would think that if Marvel had planned for 6 week 6 issue mini that the writer would already have the story done and just had to work out how to divide it.
Big Grim
Apr 8 2005, 05:17 PM
you'd think so, but this is Marvel we're talking about. I forget how long it took for Venom #18 to come out, and don't even get me started on Spider-Man/Black Cat #4. Then Wolverine: The End went into limbo for a while.

you want limbo? try the Kevin Smith Black Cat series..
