Hey folks!!

Was wondering if any of you lot out there currently owns a netbook; you know, one of those tiny budget laptop things. The reason I'm asking is that I'm tempted to get one as a replacement for my current laptop (which is slowly dying upwards), and wanted to know if anyone here has one, and if they are any good. Was leaning towards getting the Acer One netbook, as I quite like the look of both the thing itself, as well as the Linux interface which is nice and simple in its layout...

So, if anyone can give us any other info / tips / reviews, that would be fantastic!!

I'd check reviews on CNet, Amazon, NewEgg, etc. They're pretty informative. I cannot personally speak for Acer computers, but I know that Asus started the whole netbook trend, and they've been selling like hotcakes.

I would take your time to compare them on the website I listed above, mainly based on the reviews. Good luck!

I was considering getting an Asus Eee PC for awhile, but I'm pretty convinced on buying a Dell Mini now.

Smithsquared here sold his Acer One in favor of a Mini.

I don't own a Netbook, but I do see the allure. When I'm lugging my 6.5 pounder, and realize how much easier it would be if this thing was smaller and weighed only 2 pounds....yeah. Appealing for sure.

Problem is, I do like the features that a larger laptop affords, so I wouldn't trade this thing for a Netbook.

I do like that you can install Windows XP on those buggers, so you're not stuck with Linux unless you choose to be. A really nice feature.

Target's selling them, but the one I've been to sold one and they can't get the rest to move. At all.
