Octopunch could have been a regular Botcon set toy for as lukewarm as its reception was when images of it leaked to the internet a couple months before the convention. Were it not for a fantastic 1988 colorscheme toy to come with it, I bet nobody would have bought a poor Octopunch at all. Funny thing is, if you actually see it in person, and stop to realize that the mold it's using is pretty solid, a level of appeal can develop that just won't convey itself so well in photographs. If a 3rd party made a divers helmet accessory then I'd like to get one. I wouldn't want a new head kit that required me to remove the existing head though since it's such an expensive exclusive to begin with.

I was thinking about that too. Personally I'm content with the look of the head because like much of the rest of the toy, it works a lot better in person than in photos. One thing to consider is that the way the head is painted it makes the respirator look separate from the helmet, and so the helmet looks more like a basic dome than it comes across on Seaspray or Deep Dive. Now, if said third party diving helmet add-on were to come with a set of tentacles that attach to those 3mm bars on the shoulders, I think you'd have me sold at that point. :D

But honestly, the only change I would see made to this is having the upper body be done yellow instead of the toy-accurate super-light blue-green. Which it maybe would have been if it was supposed to actually represent G1 Octopunch instead of being an easy repurposing job. I just wish I had remembered to grab a trident before I shot the photos...

Ok the tentacles thing is a good idea. I hadn't even considered that. Seems like a good set if it gets made: helmet, tentacles and a trident.
