painting 3rd party accessories what should i use??

Hey Guys. So i bought a bunch of these sets years ago to arm my Alternator figures and would like to paint the launchers to match their G1 counter parts. What kind of paint should i use and should i do some sort of clear coat sealant over it? I've never customized anything before. This is going to be a first for me. So any help will be much appreciative. Thanks

no idea. i don't even use it.
