Jagex has released a new teaser movie of their upcoming massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) Transformers Universe which shows off some mightily epic footage. The video, while calm with classic music in the background, shows off the blue Decepticon fighter that we saw at BotCon as a cardboard cut-out transforming from his vehicle to robot mode. Throughout the video, we see a setting where "it's time to choose sides to team up to wage war online." View the trailer in the full article. Read the Full News Story Here

It's a neat trailer, wonder how the game will play and such. I know it's probably flash based, but wonder if somehow it would be iPad compatible, an app or something, cuz man I could see playing this stretched out on the couch listening to Beast Wars and wondering how much more corky I can be at one time.

Oh wait, imagine playing it at a con with other Transfans...

Everyone bathe before then.

Meh. In-game isn't going to look that good.

I don't think thats flash based. Typically MMORPGs would require more then a flash-based game could provide. If this is a quality title you'll need at least a semi-high end PC to run it.

I always thought flash was a kind of engine but judging from that last post I'm wrong. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Um, yeah. That's a TF: YAWN... er, I mean TF: PRIME-esque transformer standing in the dark with a bunch of paired red and blue light sources intended to give the impression of eyes.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything good or bad about the game itself, but that's essentially because this teaser, as teasers tend to, tells us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THE GAME other than, of course, that it EXISTS.

So yeah, it's still real, and it still exists.

Other than that, there's really nothing here.

If one is inclined to feel that the necessity to advertize this game even while it is mostly some code and a glint in it's development team's mutual metaphorical eye is in some way EPIC, I suppose that that is a matter of one's own discretion.

not sure how long this game will be around after its released. I feel like i'm constantly hearing about other MMO's that are having their servers shut down for lack of interest. I'll give it a show on day one as long as its playable on Mac

Flash is a vector graphics engine. While it is possible to use it for 3D, the scale we are talking about here (presuming these graphics are legit) would limit the TF MMO to only high end systems as Flash is a CPU whore.

Looking at their other games, I'm going to bet it will be built similarly to RuneScape which uses Java and 3D Rendering. This looks correct, its on Wikipedia but the cited source doesn't mention it specifically.
