Review: DOTM Leader Class Ironhide Figure

The two Leader class figures haven't brought as much inspiration to the table in comparison to the ROTF Leaders. While fans mull over when Megatron will get the Leader treatment, Hasbro presents us with an Ironhide. Ironhide hasn't translated very well into an action figure, and his current Deluxe figure is a prime example of that. Will the Leader class size correct that mistake? Wow, the truck mode's undercarriage is worse than I thought.

You didn't mention that the head can be given a sharp twist, making it able to turn as well as giving the ability to hide the face mask. Also, you are unfortunately correct about there being no conversion sounds. I have had this toy for weeks now and have checked every inch of it. While not as impressive as Leader ROTF Optimus, Ironhide and Sentinel Prime are definitely the best of the current 3 Leaders. Bumblebee was a waste and it should have been Megatron or Shockwave. I don't give Ironhide as bad of a score as you, but I agree that there are elements of the design that could have been improved.

The only thing I didn't like about LC Ironhide are the ratcheting shoulder joints. I feel they are way to loose. Other than that, I love the figure. ROTF OP and Starscream are awesome and probably the best leader figures to come out in a long time, but I think Ironhide comes close to them. I love the size. He displays great with HA figures and doesn't look out of place at all. He's the Ironhide ive been waiting for.

True, the head seems stuck at first. I had to wince while giving it a strong-arm to break it free and give it some spinning ability. I think the main thing that plummeted the score for me is the abysmal ground clearance in alt mode. He's a 4x4 truck and can't even manage a parking lot due to all that undercarriage kibble? For $45, I expect more.

And by the way, the chest weapon DOES power down and shut off when holding the lever or Autobot insignia down for an extended time. I don't know why so many reviewers have said that the weapon does not shut off. Maybe they're impatient.

wow, i completely disagree with this review.

 

leader ironhide is a GREAT figure, he's solid in both modes. his transformation is a little easy.. but oh well, this score is ridiculously low. there is absolutely no way laserbeak should have a higher score than ironhide.

 

don't listen to this review, the figure is awesome, both modes are great, the gimmicks are cool, get him.

Solid in both modes? You can't even use him as a truck in alt mode due to the low ground clearance. The arm kibble in robot mode gets in the way. The legs are brickish. For $45, that's unacceptable. You can disagree all you like, but I stand behind my rating. Glad you like him.

It's just as well. It's the Voyage mold that's finally getting the red repaint right?
