For Revenge of the Fallen, we were treated to one of Soundwave's minions in the form of Ravage. Ravage had an excellent beast mode but was plagued by a horrendous alt mode. Now, the next of Soundwave's soldiers enters the scene in the form of Laserbeak. Click here for the full review.

IMO his alt-mode is more for fanservice than anything, because the drone head is supposed to be g1 laserbeaks head. Also if you notice, he has 5mm pegs in his heels, meaning he will probably interact with the upcoming HA soundwave and dlx soundwave. *being able to perch on HA soundwave, and forming a jet pack for dlx soundwave*

This is just my crackpot theory though XD

I've been waiting for this review. I was hoping for a better alt mode. I still think they would've been better off going the Targetmaster route, making Ravage and Laserbeak into weapons for bigger 'cons since a cassette mode no longer makes sense or giving them a more reasonable alt mode like they did with Frenzy. I'll still pick him up though.

I think this Transformer perfectly sums up both the movies and there toy aesthetic.

It looks cheap, like it was made for a slower child, lumpy, ungainly, silly, uncool and has little or no real value beyond using a 20 year old name that still generates a buzz.

The toy is rubbish, it looks dumb, it wont impress either small kids or avid collectors, it's pointless, it's alt mode neither here nor there, it's as bad as ROTF Ravage and that's saying something.

So to sum up in 1985 versions of these toys where made that are so memorable and cool that in 2011 30 something men like me remember them and film makers count on peoples good will to those memories to trick people into buying this tat, no attempt to recapture what made them cool originally, merely trading on the name, shame on Hasbro and shame for anyone who buys this gods awful attempt at a Transformer.

I've waited over 20 ******* years for a movie Laserbeak and they give me this Happy Meal looking POS, I'm done.

Sack the designer, sack him now.

Wait. Someone answer this question: There IS an HA Soundwave coming?

Also, thanks for posting about areas of concern as far as durability are concerned Blitz.

VERY WELL SAID.... couldn't agree more. They did absolutely NOTHING with the ATL mode. Either guns for larger characters, or a small army under soundwave - that was in some way part of his armor or body would have at least been something. But I couldn't agree more - they did the use of the name a total disservice.

THAT SAID, i may very well enjoy the movie and their role in it. But I have 'zero' interest in the toys and wont' spend $2 on this figure - or many of the others from this movie.

I like the VTOL turbines, but overall this figure is just lame IMHO. I would agree with the rest of you saying that they didn't really try on this guy. I have been thinking about sawing off those bubble eyes on his head and in essence rescupt his head. I'm curious what Buzzsaw will look like as in the instructions you can see the alt. head sculpt that looks eons better than this one.

I agree 100% that he should have been a weapon for Soundwave or at least a jetpack instead of this lame VTOL alt mode. It reminds me of Power Rangers figure. Maybe I'll use these parts with the RPM Power Rangers Camry and make a nice Laserbeak Alternator? :tfevil

He would be perfect for Robot Chicken.....:tflaugh

Aw man I saw DOTM today and it blew me away, this incarnation of Laserbeak does indeed live up to the originals name, the character in the film, not the toy.

I'm totally pleased to have come down on the loved it side as I wasn't sure I would, yay.

I bought the Bumblebee toy to celebrate and it's eyes are missing, is this normal? he frightens and upsets me.
