Review: DOTM Voyager Ironhide Figure

Like it or not, all your old favorites from the past 2 movies are slowly being released again for DOTM. However, they all seem to be getting new molds, which holds hope that they might excel over their predecessors. This time around, we look at Ironhide and see whether he's an improvement or a distraction. Click here to find the review.

this kind of bums me out. i liked the robot mode. I had the original Ironhide and thought it was too tall and stiff.

Thanks for the review. I think I might pick this guy up after seeing the pics. I guess this is a brand new mold. Looks like the Deluxe version was a test run for this Voyager class figure? :shrug

 

I'd like to see a side by side comparison with the Recon Ironhide. If you have him, do you know if the weapons can clip on this guy? the only thing I don't like about this figure is the Huge MECHTECH weapon, but I can use it to make a custom weapon for someone else.

i kind of like the legs on this figure.. but the upper body is terrible.

 

i can't wait for the leader.

2 things:

1) The stars, bars, 6/9 junk is needlessly confusing. If you want to rate the robot mode separate, rate it separate on a scale of 1-10. If you don't think that your rating of the weapon is worth the same as the rating of the vehicle mode, use the standard 1-10 scale and don't just "add" the rankings and divide by X.

 

2) If Ironhide gets a 6/10, what gets a 3/10, or a 1/10? I assume you're using a "relative to the time period" scale so that G1 Sideswipe doesn't lose to Movie Sideswipe on pose-ability alone. But can you think of a contemporary figure that rates a 1 out of 10 on your scale? I know you think "6/10" is a D, but it's also "better than half" - if the first 5 points on your scale are pointless, then do not include them.
