Review: RTS Optimus Prime Figure

What better way to start a review wave of Reveal the Shield wave 2 figures than with the top dog himself, Optimus Prime? This Deluxe class version has often been compared to the G1 Laser Prime, and it certainly looks the part. Will Prime follow the latest trend of Deluxe offerings, which have offered some surprisingly good molds? Check this review for the answer!

All I can say is my Laser Rod Optimus Prime is still superior to this. And Blitz as far as his feet go, are you sure he is Transformed right? can't get over the black plastic in back

I got this figure (and a couple others) the other day and I think this would have been really nice as a voyager, but I agree, my original Laser Prime is a whole lot better than this guy. In fact, I think Laser Prime is my favorite Optimus outside of the G1 original.

 

As far as his feet, isn't the black piece on his heel supposed to fold up? That's how I have mine transformed.

When is the last time a bad figure actually got what it deserved in stars. It's horrible.

I hope this gets redone as a non-exclusive Nemesis Prime. The darker colour scheme and red sword may make it look a lot better. (And I want it as a 'Prime-type' opponent for my Classics Ultra Magnus).

The colors aren't THAT bad, but they definitely aren't the best. But then again that seemed to be the theme for the entire G2 line!! I personally like this figure. HOWEVER, it would have been 100x better if it had been released as a voyager. The mold feels very loose and unstable, which would've been easier to fix with more mass. Oh well. I was very excited when I first saw pics of this and was pretty disappointed to find out that it was a deluxe. Side-by-side Generations Blurr is bigger than he is!! Some argue that we should break away from the tradition of having the leaders in larger forms but with an alt mode of a semi-truck vs a sports car I would expect the robot mode to be bigger!!

I agree that the colors are not the best, but I'm honestly stumped as to why people think this is such an awful figure. It can't be just because of the colors... can it?

 

As for the feet, check the instructions. The black tabs are shown folded down, likely to help with balance.

I think its a combination of the colors and the head mold, plus the black plastic behind his feet, Chances are when they re color him as Nemesis Prime it will look better
