Sometimes you have to wonder just how many times a mold can be repainted before a fan screams "ENOUGH ALREADY!" Once? Twice? Well, Red Alert will mark the second repaint of the original Sunstreaker mold used in Universe 2.0, but reserve screaming enough until after reading this review.

Er, make that three repaints, you forgot the exclusive Punch/Counterpunch from TFCC.

I prefer the Henkei version, it has the proper red head from the toon which keeps it from looking like an upgraded Sideswipe, as well as proper G1 toy markings.

I ordered Red Alert the other day, along with Dirge and I´m actually starting to look forward to him now.

One thing though, could someone take a pic of what he looks like when reversed (head and waist swivelled around)?

This is easy to defend. I only counted retail versions, not club exclusives :bounce

(aka, I only counted reasonably priced versions)

One of the fundamentals in the transformers toys.. Not that I like repaints. But so long as it gives us a character that we would not otherwise get in action figure form, I'm okay with it provided it follows some rules:

1. Needs remolded parts- NOT just a repaint.

2. Needs to be a justified character double, IE Bumblebee/Cliffjumper; Ratchet/Ironhide; Sideswipe/Sunstreaker etc

3. This kinda ties into rule #1 but, the kibble needs to be different too. IE guns, jetpacks, armors, etc This could even include the exclusion of items that came with previous version.

4. NO figure without rule#2 IE Skullgrin release using the Darkmount mold. Boo. He was a Pretender!! Surely they could have waited and released a more creative figure than a remold.

I dunno why, but I like Skulgrin more than Straxus´look with the generations figure. I´m not a fan of straxus' head for some reason

If I didn't have Henkei Red Alert, I'd buy Hasbro's. I'd rather not buy anything extra. The paint job does look good though, but that plain gray engine really stands out, and not in a good way. It spoils the overall appearance of the car mode, which is unfair to the rest of the toy.
