Well written and laid out, thanks!

Not having seen it yet, I must say I get the feeling that's how I'll come away from it too. I'm surprised to hear Megan Fox's lips got your attention, from the trailers and stills we've been shown. Can't wait to see Prime large and in charge!

Thank you......

I have struggled on saying exactly how I felt about this movie and it has just come down to pure dissapointment. But your review says it very well...... Thank you.

I very much agree with Ironhide's assessment of Bay needing to learn how to EDIT! However, I think he rated it a bit high. On the other hand, YOUR review is SPOT ON how I felt about it...and with a fair & honest rating! Thanks, man! The ONLY thing I'd disagree with is...I don't think I'll be going back for more...I'll wait until the DVD. :thumb

Well between this review and Ironhide's review I think it is somewhere in the middle so like a what... 7-ish out of 10. 3.5 out of 5 stars. Enjoyable and yet revolting... it'll be like Christmas at my house every year!

Thanks for the review(s)! I hope to be able to go see it at some point in time today or tomorrow... maybe both. Having read the novelization of the script and the gazillion tv spots, I feel as it I have seen the movie already.

You know, you might be right. I think a lot of people who don't even like TF will go see it just to see if it is as bad as the reviews are and then Bay will do a 3rd movie to make up for the second and people will go see it reluctantly hoping it is better and bay sits there just raking in the cash....

:roll Except that I wasn't being snarky.

I do think he uses some very very sophisticated techniques in terms of editing and composition. The thing is there are tons of "MASTERS" that weren't concerned with traditional linear story telling and were more interested in the mechanics of say: Montage, juxtaposition, and creating resonance where there is none.

There are whole schools dedicated to studying filmmakers like - Eisenstein, Munsterberg, Truffaut, Ozu, even "hacks" like Kubrick and Altman.

It's only in "Traditional Hollywood" films that we see this emphasis on "invisible" story telling, but many other cultures, and many other styles of filmmaking are happy to change the way the film as a medium affects the audience.

The bottom line that I'm seeing here is that:

A) Audiences in general - understand and are affected by the film even if they cant explain how or why.

B) Film Nerds/snobs/critics etc - are overly enthusiastic to write Bay off as a "Hack" because thinking about his technique seriously scares them and threatens their world view of what "good hollywood films are.

I guess I just don't see him as any different than any other film director. People thought the same things of spilberg, m.n.s, and most of the other SciFi and so on directors...
