What's the size difference between Metroplex/ Trypticon vs Fortress Maximus,Scorponok

Depends on what you're compairing them by. The US comic(Marvel), UK comic, "Rebirth", or RiD.

RiD shouldn't count at all.

Metroplex never showed up in the US comic. Trypticon was a pretty small dinosuar compared to the Dinotobts.

Metroplex and Trypticon were huge in the cartoon. Trypticon crushed the ark with ease. First Aid could stand on Metroplex's shoulder.

Scorponok's a flying supermarket. Fort Max was had Spike, Cerebros as heads. Just gotta figure out which canon you want to go by.

Metroplex - gigantic both in comics and cartoon. In the comics, Metroplex slumbered beneath Autobot City and was the heart of the city (and her guardian)

Trypticon - also gigantic in both comics and cartoon. In the comics he dwarfs the Dinobots which he can pick up with his hands.

Fortress Maximus - gigantic in the cartoon. In the comics he had two sizes. Fort Max Mark I was the same size as the other Autobot Headmasters. Fort Max Mark II was much large, but not gigantic. He was probably slightly bigger than Powermaster Optimus Prime - but when he went toe to toe against Galvatron, Galvatron was only a bit smaller than Fort Max -- Fort Max certainly never towered over Galvatron by any means.

Scorponok - gigantic in the cartoon but just large in the comics. A bit bigger than Shockwave in the comics.

Toys (according to cliffbee.com)

Metroplex:

City Mode = Height: 22cm Length: 32cm Width: 42cm

Rolling Fortress Mode = Height: 17cm Width: 23cm Length: 32cm

Robot Mode = Height: 28cm Width: 52cm

Trypticon:

City Mode = Height: 28cm Width: 58cm Depth: 44cm

Battle Station Mode = Height: 16cm Width: 52cm Depth: 39cm

Robot (Dinosaur) Mode = Height: 29cm Length: 38cm (horn to tail) Width: 15cm

Fortress Maximus:

City Mode = Height: 30cm Length: 55cm Width: 42cm

Robot mode = Height: 54.5cm Width: 35cm

Scorponok:

Scorpion mode = Height: 21cm Length: 45cm Width: 26cm (Exact dimensions depend on what you do with the pincers and tail)

City mode = Height: 23cm Width: 59cm Depth: 33cm

Robot mode = Height: 35cm Width: 30cm

Nobody really knows for the US Animated series as they were never shown side-by-side.

For the same reason Cliffjumper and any Throttlebot were never shown side by side: they come from different seasons of the cartoon. We can't have the kiddies confused as to which toys they need to be buying!

To Me - Fort Max and Scorponok were Big, Huge, and All That, but Metroplex and Trypticon were much Bigger. Fort Max and Scorponok were probably around 600-700 ft. tall to me, with Metroplex and Trypticon being over 800-1000 ft. tall.

I just equate it in the sense that Fort Max and Scorp were mobile bases, while Metro and Tryp were actual Cities meant to be lived in. Of course a lot of my influences come from the Comics and such.

i think this is just another case of G1's some what lax effert to keep scale. so IMO id say whos bigger in US/Japanese cartoons/comics fortmax or metroplex

personaly id say metroplex was the larger since he was a city not just a spaceship/fort

and i dont even want to bring in guys like grand maximus

Tough question.

Toywise Fotress Maximus is the biggest one. He is very impressive- especially in city mode. But all the cityformers are very impressive indeed. Save for Scorponok I own all of them.

The comics are a tad inaccurate. At first Fort Max was the size of a regular Transformer and his head transformed directly into Galen. Then he was upgraded, made larger and Cerebros was included. But when Galvatron reappeared Fort Max was no longer as big.

Really odd indeed. But he was never tv-show size in the comics. Same for Trypticon. I think that it is a good point. I mean in the show they are HUGE while their toy counterparts are still big but not huge. Which is a bit of a letdown for kids who get them.

Let's take good old Optimus for scale. That's a valid point, since there is a scale model of Optimus by the name of Masterpiece Convoy, who is 1 : 24 scale. MP Convoy is 12 inches roughly, so that times 24 would be his actual size, WST Convoy is considered to be on scale with the cities. WST Convoy is an inch high. The math is simple from there on, and yet I am still too lazy to do it.

Using alt mode scale in relation to robot mode scale is lame and dosn't work

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
