Regarding the theories about Cybertron starting out life as either a organic or metalic planet.

Nope, not buying into Beast Machines (that show having the initials B.M. is rather appropriate) I'll accept the Marvel G1 cybertron origin as the basis for all, Primus becomes trapped in an asteroid, Primus learns to reshape his prison, forging ore into alloy, probably combining with other asteroids to build up mass, and purging many useless materials such as stone, then creating the first generation of the Transformer race.

In the G1 Comics we see:

+ Cybertron has water in its lower depths (e.g. when Seawatch transformed to boat mode and took Bludgeon water-skiing ;))

+ Cyebrtron has an atmosphere that can be breathed by humans and Nebulans.

+ Cybertron has technorganic creatures that lived on Cybertron before Primus created the Transformers and banished from Cybertron's surface by Primus.

And for those who want to look at it from the G1 cartoon's POV, consider the following:

+ Cybertron has an atmosphere that can be breathed by humans, Nebulans and other organic beings.

+ Cybertron has clouds (which the Rainmakers seeded to produce acid rain)

+ Cybertron's lowest depths are organic.

+ Cybertron's first inhabitants were the Trans-Organics, created by the Quintessons before they created the Transformers.

+ In Japanese G1 cartoon continuity, the Oracle in G1 is the same entity as the Oracle in BM - the Oracle had fled Primacron after he created Unicron and brought organic life to a barren planet. The Oracle was later enslaved by Quintessons who rebuilt Cybertron as a mechanical world and reconstructed the Oracle as Vector Sigma.

P.S.: If you want to go for continuities that don't show any evidence of Cybertron being a pre-organic world, go for either:

+ Live action films

+ Transformers Prime (where Jack even had to wear a spacesuit when he went to Cybertron!)
