BotCon Threatens Legal Action Over Stolen Toys!

A little off-base, but it might answer some questions. I worked for Sears in their Automotive department back in 1993. At that time, they were getting out of the accessories business. Several of us were asked to 'junk' their accessories. When I say 'junk', I mean we had to physically destroy the product. So several of us were out in the back lot, juggling headlights and doing Shadoe Stevens sledgehammer tricks to stereos. It was good times.

Unfortunately, one of the mechanics decided to take a couple of stereos home with him. This landed him in some hot water. Even though the merchandise was written off and of no monetary worth to Sears, they still prosecuted him for stealing. This was because the units were to be destroyed, and instead he took them off property with intent to use without payment. Ironic thing is... 3yrs later they rehired him.

Back on track, even though the figures may be rejects, test shots or otherwise of no worth to Hasbro, they still can sue if someone else uses it for personal or monetary gain.

I was at the Earth Day fair yesterday, & this is exactly one of the biggest environmental threats they were talking about!! Especially with car parts & electronics, this stuff is environmental nightmares!! I think we have to do better as a nation to really turn this planet around from the environmental catastrophes we are causing to ourselves!!

we all talk about stealing as a crime, but you know what is the real crime? Paying factory workers in china to work in sometimes dangerous situations losing life & limb to make these products for American markets, meanwhile working 25 hours a day and making 3 cents a month!! (I'm exaggerating, but you get my point). I was watching this special on tv where factory workers made books for Disney, & were showing us the injuries of what happened during production of these books, anyone see this tv special?

i'm pretty damned sure those workers over there in china have a different opinion than you do.

Then I expect you will do your part to help and stop buying the things produced in those factories...such as every Transformer ever...to send the message to the companies that use them that the suffering needs to stop?

Yes. I agree 100%. I URGE every Transformers fan ever born, EVAR, to immediately cease and desist buying any Transformers products.

...at least until AFTER I get all the Animated figures I want.

Given the number of amazing non-Hasbro transformable mechas coming out of Japan, I guess I could survive that idea for a while. A very little while, considering how great the Animated figures are.

Probably also made in China, though.

I checked a few boxes: SOC figures are either made in Japan or Hong Kong.
