Review: Transformers Prime Wheeljack Figure

Though Wheeljack has gotten more prominance lately via the Dark of the Moon movie and the Generations series, neither have captured his original G1 essence to the full. The Generations figure was a repaint of Tracks with a new head. Not exotic enough. And who ever heard of a blue Wheeljack? The Prime series looks to bring the look Wheeljack fans have been wanting. But does it have more than just looks going for it?

That car mode looks really good. I don't care for the samurai swords, nor the cartoon, nor the particular traits of this Wheeljack, but I might buy the toy. Maybe some 3rd party company will make some nice guns for this Wheeljack?

i hate that hes not out anywhere here. it's good to see that some of the non-FE figures will still be awesome

this is my favorite wheeljack of all time as of now

I picked him up along with Soundwave at Target, after I made the stocker go into the back and get the box. I don't care for the swords sticking out of his bumper in Altmode. Wish he was taller. It is bad when my FE Arcee is taller then Wheeljack LOL

Not a comment on the review of Prime Wheeljack, so much, as a reply to the review's opening's taking a swipe at the Generations Wheeljack figure. First of all, there was more extensive work done to the mold then just slapping on a new head. The legs were extensively reworked and he got new wingtips, and the alt mode received a new spoiler and a new front end to better resemble the G1 toy. Add in that he got some custom accessories (the wrenches) and that his shoulder cannon is a pretty good representation of the original (and oddly resembles Generations Tracks's hand held weapon, going to show that thought went into using this mold for both characters up front) and I think it is a damn good representation of Wheeljack. And if you want some finishing touches, his Reprolabels set is full of awesome.

Tell me that (a) this isn't an awesome Wheeljack and (b) he isn't nicely distinct from Tracks? (Tracks being in the photos is a byproduct of them having been taken for a review I wrote of both figures.)

Personally, I don't think there's enough distinction between the two. Sure, there's some mold revisions, but in the end Wheeljack is a repaint of Tracks :shrug
