TF:DOTM the game impressions

I just finished the game for XBox 360 this morning. It's a pretty short game. It would have been shorter if i didn't up the difficulty level to Medium. The game is almost like WFC in every way minus a few things. You're stuck with the weapon set you're given at the beginning of the game for 1. Also, there are only 7 levels to play. Some are really really long though like level 5 which was constantly loading for me which was getting really annoying. No co-op gameplay so once you're done with it, there isn't much left to do except get the rest of the achievements. There maybe be one or two achievements that could prove to be challenging but should be easy to get with practice. I haven't had the chance to tackle multiplayer yet since my internet connection is lacking while i'm traveling. The story isn't bad and it's nice to see the alt modes of some new characters. $60 for 7 levels and multiplayer that a lot of people will stop playing in a month is hard for me to recommend to any of my friends who aren't diehard TF fans. I enjoyed it though. A little frustrating at parts, but fun.

What do you guys think?

So far so good. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I started on medium difficulty. The challenge is there but it's not insanely frustrating. I can't say how I'll like the later levels because I'm only just starting the Lazerbeak section of chapter 4. I do have to say though that Soundwave is the most balanced character I've used so far. When I get around to multiplayer he may just be my guy.

Well worth the money as far as I'm concerned.

Thats discouraging, but I am glad to hear it though. I was really thinking about running and picking this one up after work yesterday - but went home for a few rounds on WFC (which I really suck at) instead. Seems like the majority of the game is based on the online mode then huh?

Not really. WFC only had ten chapter, and the end boss levels were really short. So far the DOTM chapters seem as long to longer than WFC chapters (to me anyway) and there is a much more robust variety to the levels.

Granted, I'm only on chapter 5, but it's a decent game.

A lot of games recently aren't really deserving of the $60 release price tag. It really turns me off about games now.

Which is why I haven't bought a game system since the first playstation. When there is a game I really want to play I'll just borrow my nephews Xbox and get the game when it's on the cheap.

You know I had preordered the game for the Ps3 and then canceled it. I remember the last Movie game coming out for $60 and then less then a Month later taking a Price cut. I think I'll wait this time for the Price cut before I get it. From the sounds of it the cut may come sooner then later.

Until the Holiday season sets in right?

Gears of War 3

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Battlefield 3

Rayman Origins

Halo Combat Evolved HD Anniversary remake

Batman: Arkham City

Uncharted 3

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

God of War PSP HD remake for the PS3

Metal Gears Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker HD remake for PS3/360

Modern Warfare 3

Rage

Twisted Metal

Granted some of those will probably get pushed back to 2012 like Mass Effect 3 but I believe the majority will push through. Gears 3, BF3, MW3, Batman and Twisted Metal are sure bets. Halo CE was promised. Skyrim is a probably but I could easily see it getting pushed out. I could see the Metal Gear/Silent Hill HD collections getting pushed back easily. Rage I think already got pushed back but to even later this year.

I'm not sure when Bioshock Infinite is coming out but that should be an instant buy for everyone. EVERYONE.

It also might be how my gaming preferences have evolved in comparison to how gaming has evolved. A lot of games are multiplayer first and put little effort into the single player. I still enjoy single player #1 because I like being part of the story. Its funny you mentioned Skyrim in there. I will buy any game like that that can garunatee many hours of gameplay. The ultimate sandbox experience! I had played Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 and FNV for MONTHS without worry. That is worth the price right there. Other types like the Heroes of Might and Magic series, and Civilization are worth that price tag. But I'm not really big on multiplayer. My last TF game experience wasn't that great either... TF (Armada) on PS2. I will eventually get the TF movie games, but not at release date pricing.

I want it, but yeah I'm waiting for the price to go down after the new wears off. I still think I'm getting the Wii game first though. Well, actually I'll probably get the iPad game on it's release day, but that's like what? 5$ I can deal with the release day splurge :P
