Review: DOTM Voyager Ironhide Figure

I want to know what was wrong with Blitzwing's old system of rating toys? I understood it. Did too many people not get it, resulting in this new, and now further modified, rating system?

It sounds like the arm movement is about as restricted as it was on the first FAB Ironhide. I don't think there is any valid excuse for that on a Voyager class TF.

That said, if this is the one they wind up repainting red I'll be buying it, God help me....

A Legends class, and Fast Action Battler a few RPMs/Speed Stars that's it.

Hasbro doesn't understand Bumblebee Overload. But if they were to do a Red Ironhide repaint the time is now and quite honestly I would love to have the Recon Ironhide from ROTF repainted into G1 Ironhide

Me too, but at this point I can't afford to get too picky. If they do a red Ironhide in Deluxe or Voyager class I'll gladly buy it regardless of the mold. As cool as Leader Ironhide looks, that's the one I REALLY hope gets the repaint.

Just watch, they'll finally do it but it'll be Japanese exclusive or something like that. Japan seems to be getting all the good repaints and exclusives this time around....

i just opened up my Voyager Ironhide and i like it! I just hate the bed in vehicle mode. The design team should have definitely designed the bed better. They could have easily added a "shield" or something that would double as a cover for the bed with a stand for the MechTech weapon. oh well.

okay.. so i decided to pick this up and give it a try..

 

this figure deserves the award for worst shoulder articulation EVER.

 

man.. this figure would be half way decent if it weren't for the shoulder articulation.

 

this will probably end up getting repackaged and returned.

I realized how much I dislike mechtech because of his alt mode. I think the truck would have looked great without the three big holes on the roof and doors. It really takes away form the figure.

This figure is definitely one of the better ones in my opinion aesthetically, but as people have commented, it's pretty poor playability wise. The mechtech weapon is pretty lame as a gimick overall and the added mounting points are aweful in vehicle mode :-( Even worse the weight of the mechtech weapon compromises the posablity as much as the lack of adjustablity of the shoulder joints. And rotating the shoulders around once wore them out enough that they are no longer abile to easily support the weight. Lame. That said, the figure still looks great as a robot and has very good leg articulation. I really like what they've done with the kibble. Definitely a keeper for me. I'll compare him to the original movie voyager this week and decide which I like better. I can't wait for the leader and hope he is just a better version of this one...
