Review: RTS Optimus Prime Figure

Blitz-Wing

I like this figure. Theres supposedly a trailer being made for it which also acts as armor. Kind of like the Protector trailer. I think it is aimed more towards Nemesis due to the big sword that it comes with.

I didn't realize till I saw these pics at how the white/grey parts has a light pink hue to it.

I'm going to side with Blitz on this one. I don't know where all this hate is coming from. It's a pretty good mold with some decent articulation for a deluxe. I thought the sword was clever, the truck's hitch becomes the crossguard for the sword and I like the head sculpt. For a deluxe I think it's better than a lot of the bayverse garbage many transfans embrace as cool.

You guys have any issues with that pin that goes through the blade? I don't think they made that pin long enough. I've already had it pop out on me and it was a pain to get back in.

I gotta ask why everybody is so hard on Blitz for his reviews. Seriously, this is a review! Its his opinion of the figure, and he takes a lot of his time to photograph and write about the figure after he has carefully analyzed it. You don't have to agree with him, but I have to say I don't see a lot of other people taking the time to photograph and write about various Transformers on this site. For me, I don't usually go buy a new figure without seeing some kind of review for it. I think most of you probably work hard for your money as I do, and I don't like throwing it away on Transformers that may or may not be worth the money. I will admit that once and awhile I get a figure and disagree with his opinion of it, but I see no reason for the harsh words people are directing at him. Blitz seems to give an honest, unbiased opinion on what he reviews, and I for one am grateful that he takes the time and makes the effort to do it.

Thanks for the defense, HotRod, but I didn't take any of the comments here personally. I can understand some people may not like this figure. That's great. I just hope the hatred isn't simply because of the harsh color scheme.

My main thing was the back of the feet. I'm not going after Blitz at all. Blitz is one of the coolest Admin I've ever seen him and BaCon are cool. I also don't think anyone is attacking Blitz here. I still hold that the original is superior to this one, and for the longest time, until MP Prime first showed up and Classics Voyager Prime. Laser Rod Prime was the Prime to have

I agree that the colors are not the best, but I'm honestly stumped as to why people think this is such an awful figure. It can't be just because of the colors... can it?

As for the feet, check the instructions. The black tabs are shown folded down, likely to help with balance.

I think thats EXACTLY why. Colors for the fan is an essential part to the character. From seeing pictures and all, I like him and do wish that the colors were more well conformed in an even red and blue. I really think that this toy would have stood out much better with the G-1 color scheme but I still like him.

BTW thats my arguement for Powerglide! He's an awesome toy and the colors are bananas but for the most part most people don't like him in thet scheme because he wasn't true to his G-1 roots. I didn't mind at all. In fact I was almost hoping Wheeljack would have been released in Downshift green or maybe another re-color.

Late to the game, but I just spotted the thread. Besides, this figure still hasn't shown up around here! If he sported the traditional red & blue color scheme, this figure wouldn't be as good a tribute to the G2 Laser Prime toy. Sure, it's a hodgepodge, but it's entirely appropriate for the incarnation. The only way the toy fails in my book is in failing to arrive in the Downingtown area!

And Powerglide needed more than a G1 deco to be a good toy and a good reinterpretation. I have the Walmart red redeco, and it still doesn't work. The head isn't quite right, the shoulders won't stay pegged, and the overall profile just doesn't say "And away we go!" to me. I'm really looking forward to the Cyberverse Powerglide - the pictures make it look like a much better interpretation.

All 4 of the Powerglide that I have are good and no problems, everything is snug and snaps into place like it should

Original - hate the white

Henkei - Dominates

Stormcloud - not a good fit, but holds together great

Walmart G1, really good interpretation and makes up for the 1st round powerglide

I also finally bought G2 Optimus Prime, after putting him back on the shelf at least a dozen times. he is not worthy of the original, however as a deluxe he is a good interpretation of the Leader Class figure
