Thanks to Jim Sorensen! Last month, a group of dedicated fans pooled their resources to attempt to purchase a piece of Transformers history; scripts and other documents from Transformers movie writer Ron Friedman. The most anticipated among the many documents we purchased was an early draft of The Transformers: The Movie, dated 4/27/1985. Jim has scanned it in and done a preliminary OCR pass, so without further ado, here it is for download! Check his blog for excerpts from the script now at Disciples of Boltax. Didn't parents get all up in arms after the beginning of the movie? What like 1/2 the autobots kids knew died....

Check out this Video....with a little factoid at the beginning.

Gave it a read through, up till Ingestor's transformation, then scrolled around. (thought it kind of fell apart at that point.)

I really liked some aspects of the early draft script, like the Lifespark and the few scenes on Earth after the shuttles launched.

Just curious, did anyone actually have problems picturing this as G1 animated? There was a few times, I ended up picturing it Bayverse style, due to the characters breaking into metal shards and sparks.

I've never heard that...but I do remember when I went to see the movie as a kid, one parent got up and left after one of the swearing scenes.

Yeah, I didn't experience any of it myself. But according to various sources enough parents got upset that the letters that came in caused Hasbro to resurrect Optimus in late season 3 and have Duke miraculously live in GI JOE the movie.
