Inevitable, but drives me nuts. What did the guy ever do to deserve this, other than look cool? Can you name me one Soundwave-centric story that you can say, with a straight face, is one of your top 10 favorite Transformer stories of all time?

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that maybe the fact he was one of the best G1 Transformers action figures on the market? He had great articulation for G1, had awesome accessories (the cassettes AND weapons that were his batteries!), AND had the coolest voice ever on the animated series. Plus let's add the fact he was one of the originals in both toy and cartoon form...he's been with us since the beginning! How could he NOT deserve this?

I note that you didn't actually name a Soundwave-centric story you enjoyed. Unless we're going purely on the greatness of the toy (which I'll agree, is indisputable), this would be like if the baseball Hall elected some marginal player just because he'd been touted as a can't miss prospect. Yeah, Soundwave had the tools to be a great player, but he never put them together into much of a career. He was a roleplayer, a background guy with a nifty gimmick.

I wouldn't say he's a background character. He was Megatrons' real second in command and a driving force behind the Decepticons unlike that poser Starscream. I didn't vote for Soundwave but I can't imagine G1 without him. Is it better to be excellent in a couple episodes or merely great in every episode he was in?

And this is coming from a guy who doesn't especially care for Decepticons.

Well I'm just going to say that without Starscream it would be hmmmmmmmmmm. GoBots and and that point who cares. Yeah yeah soundwave is great but was everyone freaking high? I mean Hot Rod, how does he pass up Ultra Magnus? That I can't figure out. Back to your Starscream comment Mr. Jason X, I just have to say he is the best of the best of decepticons and in an answer to your question about combiners being voted in separately, well now you have your answer. Obviously when Megatron was voted in Soundwave should have been voted in cause he has his head is so far up Megatrons ass they are one. Guess you where correct about them having to go in as different entities.

It's pointless, incoherent rants like this that cheapen the entire TFormers experience. Congratulations starscream4life69 (I won't dignify you with a Mr.) on making a fool of yourself and bringing shame and dishonor to your friends and family. I'll be embarassed for you since I'm sure you don't have the good sense to be embarassed yourself. Good day.

That was a little harsh but I agree with the sentiment. I didn't join up to listen to people whine. Ultra Magnus is cool for a cheap Prime knock off but he didn't get the votes. Get over it. Try being a good sport.

I see a :lock in the near future....

....because Im gonna fan the flames! Starscream suuuucks! Soundwave ruuuules!

Ill save you guys the trouble: That was childish of me. In seriousness however, Starscream though indeed quite pivotal for all of TFdome, hes just not as cool as Mr. Wave IMO.

And Ultra Magnus couldnt light our darkest hour, thats why he got no votes! :P Maybe if there was a hall of gettin blown to smithereens.

I got to say, I apologize to all if my last post came off as, belligerent. I understand the love of soundwave, he is cool as hell. I guess it depends what side of the fence you are on in that situation. Soundwave was the most loyal decepticon. I just can't help but think what did his loyalty get him? Starscream however had the ambition to try and change things, not happy just being a sidekick. Yeah he failed miserably but I respect his attempt to change things.

I am cool with Soundwave being the first one voted in that's cool. My issue is Hot Rod, I know Ultra Magnus only had like 2 votes which is more than your quoted no votes. Thing is broter, Magnus was one of my favorites growing up and think he was underrated. I knew a vote for Magnus was throwing my vote away but I stand by him. It's much like the dude that voted for Cosmos. No chance but standing by his boy, that is cool. Where I am confused is all the hot rod/rodimus prime votes. In my oppinion he was a waste, hell Cliffjumper was a better autobot, I guess I just don't get the love of that character by so many.

I hear that. Things can get a little heated in hear at times. More so when dealing with peoples favorites. Megatron himself acknowledged Starscreams' contributions to the Decepticon cause and that's good enough for me. The fact that I hate both Megatron and Starscream as much as I do speaks volumes about them achieving what they were created to: being excellent bad guys.

As to the appeal of Hot Rod/Rodimus "Prime", your guess is as good as mine. He looked cool in both forms but even as a six year old kid I could tell he was all flash and no substance, and the flash wore thin quick.

With regards to Ultra Magnus, he's undeniably cool. We all may have thrown away a vote or two, but the entire voting process isn't about picking who you think will win. It's about picking who you want to see in the Hall. If everyone voted for Jazz just because they figured he was a sure thing (just an example Jazz lovers) the entire process would lose its meaning. My way of thinking is Ultra Magnus didn't get more votes because he came kinda late to the party. If I recall correctly he was only aroumd for one season, right?

And as for you, Breaker, if you wanted to fan the flames you succeeded. No one judged you or mocked your picks. If you can't keep yourself from being such a dick then you shouldn't be on the forums.

Soundwave didnt have to have ambition to change things. He full-heartedly believed in the future Megatron wished to implement. Soundwave is ultimately loyal to Megatron in this, but if he truly thought it would doom the entire TF race, then logic dictates he reconsider. He doesnt have to have big explosion moments, great one liners (tho he has them), etc. to get attention, his characterization is one that lets him be overlooked in the grand scheme of things. But he pulls more threads then you think.

Starscream is great in his own right, Im sure he'll make it into the nominees. Im just happy that most of the nominees are Decepticons. That tickles me.

And I absolutely love Cosmos, but Soundwave is my favorite of all time. If they announced Hubcap as the next nominee I'd shit.

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
