Hasbro has put out a press release to kick off Toy Fair 2010. The release details upcoming figures for this year including Power Core Combiners figures - available in Scout with Mini-Con, two-pack, and five-pack figures - Battle Ops Bumblebee, and more. Some highlights of the Power Core Combiners line is that they will "combine with one another, in dozens of variations, to create a wide variety of larger combiner robots." Read the entire press release after the jump.

bummer. i was hoping the figures in the 5 pack were bigger. i was happy with the energon combiner sizes even though they were lacking in visual appeal. the 2 beast wars combiners were great. Magnaboss is one of my favorite combiners next to Predaking. hopefully when the pictures start coming in of actual product, it might change my mind. i love combiners.

Actually, it makes sense to make them that size. I was talking about this in the RotF Devastator thread. It isn't feasible to mass produce a really large combiner with the components also capable of fully transforming. It'd be too expensive to produce and/or too fragile to pass the safety standards. If you look at any of the past combiners that have been produced with fully transforming component bots, The largest the central figure gets is Deluxe class while the limbs would be no larger than Scout class. It's an issue of weight, durability, and cost. Kitbashers don't have to concern ourselves with these factors, Hasbro does. That's why Supreme class Devastator isn't made up of Transforming components and why the Powercore Combiners use a Scout class central bot and Legends class limbs.

Phones, TVs, Computers are getting smaller/thinner, but dammit, not toys!! I was really looking forward to those Team Combiners. If there is one thing I liked about combiners is that when you combine them all, they are actually bigger than the rest of the figures in that line.

One Scout and Four Legends class toys? Jeez, Hasbro goes cheap on the combiners once again. :tdown

They should be bumped up at least one size, with 4 Scouts and 1 Deluxe. That's close to a modern day version of the size of G1 Combiners like Bruticus and Superion.

But you seem to be forgetting about the Predacons! Everything about Predaking negates what you just said...when it comes down to it, it's just a matter of what Hasbro/Takara want to do. The new Power Core Combiners will definitely sell better in the long run if small and cheaper, but I also think it makes for an interesting new character line up. As separate characters, they may be weak and unable to hold their own in battle...but if they can team up and combine, then they can take on the voyager sized bots in battle! I have a feeling we may be seeing a larger combiner in the near future (maybe not Predaking size!) if the smaller one's sell well.

The Predacons were also bricks. They had very simple transformations and hardly any articulation. They were just solid bricks. That is a key difference. G1 transformers had very little articulation or moving parts compared to today's Transformers.

Seems like a reasonable compromise & would get my vote! :thumb There being a little bashful going from this monster Supreme combiner down to Legends/Scout combiners...you would think the step down from the Supreme would be Scouts/Deluxe... :shrug
