Nice review of this gimmick The reviewer did screw up on one thing though. The short sword is not also called a katana. It's called a wakasashi. The katana is the long sword and the wakasashi is the short sword.

Sorry bro, I had no idea that the little sword is called wakasashi. I was tempted to call em both zanpaktous (referring to katanas from Bleach anime).. I am the reviewer by the way.. :tflaugh

Cheers..

Yep, more accurately, it's spelled Wakizashi (I looked it up). It means "Side insertion" in Japanese. When worn together with the katana, the pair is known as a daisho (literally, "Large and small")

Other Japanese swords include the Tachi/Nodachi/Ōdachi, Kodachi,Ninjato, and the double edged Tsurugi (a weapon apparently no longer in common use), and tantō(the Japanese dagger). Along with the pole mounted Naginata and Yari, they are known as nihontō (literally "sword of Japan").

A guy I use to train with would whoop me every time with a naginata. I have a respectful hate for that thing. I never really got the hang of it, I'm to tense.

I schooled him one day though when I brought in a short sword with curved flanges I bought at a flea market. I pinned it quick and snapped it out of his hand.

It's the second one from the bottom. To this day it's still my favorite :mwahaha

Wow, how'd you know so much? are you japanese or sumtin?

The cool part of this video is that it shows the the smaller sword does store completely in the turret housing just fine. I was concerned there for a moment about how the short sword was stored in tank mode seeing how it was stuck into the side of a tank part.

If my economy changes I'd like to get this figure...

Yeah, its just awkward to have a sword sticking out at the side of his alternate mode..

You know what? Thank you for commenting on my post, that was really helpful. I pointed out a function that I had questions about and actually thought did not work (like the smaller sword not fitting into the turret in tank mode) Out side of showing this feature in the video you also took the time to confirm that what i saw (assumed) was in-fact correct. Do you have a full detailed review on line about this figure? I look forward to seeing more reviews done by you.

Again thanks,

-Skully

Indeed I do have another review on bludgeon.. Detailed or not that depends. Feel free to check it out:

Not even close. I just happen to like Anime and a lot of Japanese culture. I also watch a lot of movies as well as the Discovery Channel and History Channel. I also like to look stuff up that is of interest to me.

Too bad for the ppl that HATE this. :roll This isn't very "movie" like anyway, its like a mix between 70% classics with IDW colors, and 30% movie imo. Great job showing details that ive been VERY interested in. Thanks!

Im BIG into Japanese culture too. And i have friends online there, and in the philippines I talk to weekly. Havent found any from China yet. Its funny you mention Bleach Tramp, my best friend :love 's that show. I myself, watch Ghost in a shell, Death Note (finished this series), Blood plus (just started this), Gundam 00, Cowboy Beebop, and i always loved Fujiko from a show i cant think of the name right now. It will come to me. :P

Actually, I didn't mention it, YoboY did, but it is indeed one of my favorite anime.

On a side note YoboY, One of the other reasons why I knew more about the Japanese swords, namely the Katana and Wakizashi is because one of my own comic book characters wields the complete Daishō set, both swords, the katana and wakizashi. Shadowblade_by_Tramp_Graphics.jpg

(this is a very old book cover design I did back in college.

That's because this is part of my own original work. It's not published yet. In fact, it's not even written yet. This was a class project back in college. I did screw up on the kanji though.

Here's the proper kanji in order:
