Review - Xbox 360 Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The Game

Revenge of the Fallen, seems to be part of a surprising trend of good, not great, licensed games in the last year or so. Fans of the new films, as well as gamer fans of the larger Transformer universe who pick this game up are in for a pleasant surprise... mostly. Read the Full Review here.

i love this game. i have not gotten very far in the game in either campaign.. but with the autobots i wish you could play as more characters.. same with the decepticons.

but anyways.. i love sideways' sniping ability.. i'd have to say that he's my favorite character to play as. it's awesome that all of your weapons actually work this time instead of your enemies having shields.

Well, I'm quite surprised by this review. It seems to mimic Spider-Man 2 in a way where the sequel is better than the original. However, I wouldn't directly compare Revenge of the Fallen to Spider-Man 2. At least it's better than it's beterthan its predecessor. I am curious about one thing however. At one point you said both Prime and Megatron have a "super mode." Does that mean "Powered-Up Prime" is playable and that Megatron has a combination mode as well? Or is it somethng completely different?

Great review! I'm loving it so far but the holding a button for alt mode take a lot of getting used to and after playing 3 open sandbox games (Red faction, Infamous, and Prototype) the limited "box" level areas are annoying. My big question so far is who the hell is Grindor? What happened with Blackout there? Hopefully I'll know after I see the movie at midnight tonight.

Great review Ender, can't wait to play with you when my copy comes in the mail.

One aspect where I think this game would rule: co-op. How awesome would it be to take a friend and be your two favorite TFs and play side to side, preferably in a GoW2 Horde setting with wave after wave of Decepticons (or vice versa).

soooooooo how does it compare to Atari's Transformers for the PS2

It's similar in concept but corrects a lot of the problems that game had like BUTTON MAPPING!

The physics are better to and the transforming is much more natural and functional.

I got the impression Luxoflux learned alot from the Atari game actually, both in terms of what worked and what did not.

The developer of Atari's TF game actually made the RotF Wii/PS2 games, under a new name. I didn't get a review copy of this version, but I was unimpressed with the hands on time I got with it.

At one point you said both Prime and Megatron have a "super mode." Does that mean "Powered-Up Prime" is playable and that Megatron has a combination mode as well? Or is it somethng completely different?

Megatron has a flying hover mode that behaves the same as Prime's super mode. It just looks like Megatron's robot mode, but it can fly and does not transform. It fills the role of Prime's super mode in the latter levels of the Decepticon campaign and serves as it's balance in multi-player.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words about the review!

So this game isn't as opened like the last one?

Where you go around looking for cubes, but this time you have to do it during a mission?

I don't have the game, but here are some codes:

Main menu, cheat codes, enter the following with D-pad

Gamestop

Gold Optimus Prime: Up Down Left Left Right Down

Gold Megatron: Down Up Right Right Left Up

Best Buy

G1 Starscream: B A B (RB) Y (RB) (This one disables achievements/trophies)

After seeing the movie I gotta say Starscreams voice in the game is terribly wrong, He sounds like Satan with the flu or a death metal vocalist stuck in stage character on the game but in the movie he sounds like what you'd hope Starscream would sound like. I don't see why they didn't just call Grindor Blackout either. He is back in the movie and you assume he was returned the same way as Megatron was but nothing is said about him and he isn't in the movie for long.

So far I've been top of the list kikin ass in multiplayer on this game. I love it!

Thanks for the codes, Optics. Much obliged.

This game doesn't work like the last one at all. The two have nothing in common but the name and some characters, this game was made from scratch. It is more like the PS2 Atari game than the previous movie one.

Sadly the way the time tables work out between movies and their satellites does not allow for total fidelity. Starscream sounds like he did in the first movie, cuz that's all the developers had to work with I imagine.

Blackout is not back during the movie to my understanding, that is Grindor. I think they actually used his name, but I could be mistaken.
