Review: ROTF Leader Class Megatron Figure

Correct, but the turret has to be locked into place for that button to work. If you choose to leave the turret unlocked for some elevation, you lose the sounds. FWIW

You said the tank mode has no electronics? Mine has a button on the turret in alt mode that makes the firing noise.

I'll check again. I had to exchange the first one I got, the leg pegs wouldn't lock in place at all. Spotty QC as usual.

I get what they were going for with the look of this Megs, but I still can't get over the head sculpt looking like he has droopy dog ears. It just takes away from the whole fierce look the guy is supposed to have. The whole "huge middle finger" thing I think is a not-so-subtle hint from Bay to us tho...

And yeah, there's a button right where the turret latches onto his back.

I have a strong suspicion the head will be visible in the movie in tank mode as well. Both toys actually make a point of moving into sight. This makes zero sense for Hasbro designers unless they were following the movie.

I guess they figured he wasn't fooling anybody anyhow...

The toy is nicer in person than I expected from all the prerelease images/reviews. There is some room for improvement, to be sure- but I actually bought this one, and I had to pass on the last one.

Hey blitz-wing, over all between the 2 megs, which one do you like better, leader or voyager megs?

Well, can't say because I haven't found a Voyager mold yet.

In robot mode, are the treads on the back of his legs supposed to lock into place at all? Unless I have it wrong, the pegs on them don't seem to fit in anywhere. There are holes but they don't line up for me...

Yes, there are clips on the rear tread that clip on to spots on the back. When I get home tonight I'll try to take a shot of it.

I love it when I discover hidden bits on new Transformers. ROTF Leader Megatron has a pair of "arms" that that come around his head in robot mode. They can be raised and bent slightly, and in alt mode, serve as a sort of "bumper" around his head. That's not the discovery. The discovery is that the ends of these arm devices can be rotated and locked together:

Here's a shot with one end turned and the other left stowed:

It would appear to function like a cow-catcher in alt mode, which has the added benefit of partially hiding his robot head. Very cool. I love this big guy!
