The real reason Tarantulas would be doing it would be that he wanted to examine the being that defeated Megatron, to see if there was something special about Optimus that allowed him to defeat Megatron, something Tarantulas should know about so he can figure out how to combat it. Tarantulas would want to know how an elite guard washout was able to defeat the most cunning and feared of the Decepticons, as well as wield the Magnus hammer so effectively. It isn't something visible...so Tarantulas decides to poke around in Optimus' brain. The scenerio was created to keep Optimus from realizing what was happening.

Of course, if Tarantulas did discover somethign within Optimus that he could replicate in himself to strengthen himself...well...that's just a bonus.

Thats an interesting thought, but I don't necessarily agree. While Tarantulus did usurp his Meatron's plans constantly, he never tried to make a bid to become the Predacon leader or to further his own physical might. He always had an ulterior motive (escaping the planet in the stasis pod before the Planet Buster blew up Earth, combating the Vokk, investigating futher into Megatron's crimes, etc). Plus he is a minion of Unicron, what need does he have to make himself beefier when he's got the Chaos Bringer backing him up.

EDIT: But then again this is Animated and not all the characters are exactly the same as their originators :D.3

but still a canniblistic character like tarantulas would be too much i mean for animated's style would'nt he be?

  • 1 month later...

Looks like I'm about two months late, but I just watched this.

It's amazing how because it wasn't perfect, most people are willing to dismiss what we saw out of hand. And what we saw was the evolution of Optimus Prime into the leader he was born to be.

I'll probably explain in a later post, or at least try to. We're gonna have some fun. And maybe open up some old wounds.
