Yes people it's a new mold with similarities to the previous, which makes it reinvented NOT retooled.

BB=Retool

Prime=Redone

Feh, picky picky. I'm not shy. Bring the repaint, retool, repro, redo, retard or whatever as long at its Prime :win

Retardimus Prime? :dclol

My point is that the AllSpark was meant to be something of an almost mystic nature. It bestowed life to an entire race of living creatures. It's not something that obeys the normal laws of science. So therefore it works within the Movie's universe.

Which is the point. Bay isn't so much against mass shifting as he is against mass shifting that can't be adequately explained in the story.

The AllSpark mass shifting can be explained because it's this mystic, life-giving artifact that even the TFers don't fully understand. Jetfire and Prime mass shifting to combine for no other reason then to reference the UT doesn't work on the same level. It's not even close.

To be clear here, in the context of the Transformers movie storyline, Michael Bay is essentially God himself. This is important to note when considering your statement about having events be explainable in the story. It's been clear from the very beginning that he's interested in presenting his vision of the Transformers universe largely free from the constraints of the rabid fandom. I think Bay is against mass shifting that can't be adequately explained in his storyline. The mass shifting of the allspark was done, as you said earlier, to serve plot. He needed the climax of the movie to unfold in a particular way and that wouldn't have been possible (at least not in the same way) with a building sized prop. That mass shifting can be explained in the context of the storyline since as you have said:

"it's this mystic, life-giving artifact that even the TFers don't fully understand."

But since the transformers themselves are:

"Sentient, extra-terrestrial, mechanical lifeforms brought to life millenia ago by the radiation of a mystic life giving artifact, each one containing a fragment of that energy in the form of a living spark and made up of technology so advanced that our poor understaning of but one of them has spawned the entire technological age."

He could have just as easily have explained mass shifting of any of them had he chosen to do so. He didn't. He thought it was dumb, which is fine, because it's his show to run as he sees fit.

Additionally, I don't even know if the "no mass shifting" belief was ever even meant to be a hard and fast rule to be adhered to at all times or if it was just a "look! Soundwave isn't going to be in the damn movie and Megatron isn't going to be a gun!" to shut up the death threat issuing fanboys.

I think at this point that we should just consider ourselves lucky that they decided to do a new movie prime mold. As far as combining goes, I won't be bothering with jetfire, so the point is moot for me. If you don't like the combining feature....

THEN DON'T USE IT.

This Prime is defenitly a heavy re-tool. The alt-mode (truck) looks more like the truck on voyager prime. The shape of the semi looks less boxy, the windshield is a bit slanted probably to accommodate for the new gimick.

...Except the front wheels are still at Prime's kneecaps, a part of the transformation the Voyager class one doesn't do.

It's not a retool at all, skullfire.

I know it's not a re-tool. I called it a "Heavy-Retool" hahahaha, just so I didn't have to be in a quote war with someone who didn't want to accept that this was a brand new mold. I took the middle path :)

Anyhow it looks like hasbro enlarged the truck design on the voyager toy to leader size...please note I mean the truck! not the entire toy and bot. I've always loved the voyager design because it looks so much like the movie in alt mode. The orignal leader toy looked terrible in alt mode.

I wouldn't be so sure. Look at the truck mode, his feet look still to transform into his grill, vrs his front wheels still seem to be on his feet, via same transformation. Its possible its a brand new mold, but i HIGHLY believe its an extensive re-tool. Probably a mix of old, with brand new transforming parts or placements. And gimmicks of course.

Any similarities you see are due to the desire to replicate the on-screen Prime. His front wheel fenders are still on his ankles because that's there they are in the movie. It is a completely new mold. There is no question about that.

No retool in the history of the transformers brand has ever been so extensive as to change the transformation scheme, and you need only give a little study to see how different this mold's transformation is when compared to the previous figure. Notice the bottom half of his smoke stacks attached to the panels sticking up from his back. Notice the red arms that would be incapable of becoming the sleeper cab in truck mode. Notice the roof of the sleeper is one solid piece - it has no seems - and so does not separate to form the shoulder pads as it did on the previous version.

And never in the history of transformers has Hasbro reused minor pieces from mold to mold, no matter the similarities. They always either perform minor retools, or build from scratch.

Since when did Hasbro ever care about scale in bot mode? I always see the cars planes & vehicles in scale (more so) then any of the bots. And thats depending on size class too.

Oh, for crying out loud...the wager's been made, will nothing appease you people?

Sir, you are 100% correct about it being a new mold! I was told it was gonna be a brand new mold in august so i was expecting one. When i saw the head/chest pic i was SURE it was a new mold. But after viewing the new full pic i was unsure it was new. Now comes me finding out that even though they use the same transformation in part of it, it was built from scratch and i was under the impression building a new toy using some of the same schematics, could be a re-tool. I now found out thats not correct. So even though his lower legs and some stomach area transformations are the same, it still IS a new mold. Which is rather exciting. I DID notice the sleeper cab was fuill now, but i guess i thought it was a re-tool cuz it looks like his feet still form his grill, whihc lead me to believe it being a possible re-tool. However, i am now aware that its a compleltely new mold, BUT they are using some of the same transfomation.

all aiside, whether it was a re-tool or a new mold, it still looked awesomesauce! Now knowing its def a all new mold (& yes i did see the stacks coming up behind his shoulders ;) ) I am totally psyched for this! Now just to see a leader class AWESOME mold of Starscream plz hasbro. ;)

Wager? Can i get some of that action? :lol

It's nice. I want to see more pictures. Some of what I see looks much better than the first, and some looks like a step backwards. I'm especially concerned with those shoulders (if it's transformed properly).

I really, really LOVE my Takara premium Prime with the chrome. That'll be tough to beat.

If this is worth picking up, does that mean they'll do this every movie and I'll end up with 6 leader Primes before it's all over (3 takara)? That seems very excessive.

Can't wait to see more!
