If i was on wifi on my iPhone, i could have texted other iPhone users over iMessage. But since my GF hasn't bothered updating her iPhone since she bought it 7 months ago, i just used wifi on my MBP. Good enough for me!

And thank God you can't use your phone on a plane!! I enjoy the peace and quiet of not hearing 200 schmucks yak on the phone.

amen to that! Noise Canceling headphones are great for inside the airplane and outside in the terminal.
