Fun Productions' Brian Savage is going on a rampage trying to stop people from selling and buying BotCon items not distributed through the club. He's posted a letter on Asian forums threatening legal action if the "stolen" BotCon toys are not returned withing 48 hours. Check out the letter posted on the HK news group Talk.Transformers here

I'm confused (as I usually am):

Does this only refer to some BotCon toys that were stolen from the factories in China, or is Hasbro also trying to stop people who are pre-selling their reserved toys?

I think they're only concerned with people selling toys that they have in hand right now. There's nothing illegal about reselling toys that you've purchased and received from the proper distribution channels, even if the buyer is lined up before you get the toy.

Thanx. I thought that was the case, which was why I was confused.

Wonder how that works with international laws and all that. Will the suit be filed in China or the US? Because filing a lawsuit in the US for an incident in China is pretty complicated. Should be interesting to see how this pans out.

How would they be able to track the people distributing these toys, I wonder?

eBay just hands out personal information these days? That's interesting....

Don't be stupid. eBay probably had no choice with a legal statement from FP and Hasbro.

I think this is little more than a scare tactic. If there was a true legal problem and Hasbro were involved, they would be handling this in a more professional way. Brian has done this before. Remeber the anti-prototypes rant or the call for all fans to support the war? I mean BotCon is sold out, WTF else do they want?
