IF is real, and ignoring the POTP image, this image making the rounds on the SNS appears to be for a possible leaked listing for a Shattered Glass Rodimus for Hasbro Pulse and or Generation Selects. The Philippines retail listing suggests this is a recolor / partial of the Studio 1986 Hot Rod figure. - Read the Full News Story

So my problem with this is its name.  Rodimus Unicronus is the name after the Matrix is in his chest, in his Rodimus Prime mode.  As Hot Rod, his name should be Nemesis Hot Rod.  Either way, still a buy, but will be referred to correctly.

This theme has been knocked around so many times. For a long time they called it "Menasor". My guess is the names are being confused because its still leaked news. I have faith the TF Team will sort the name out for release.

I understand that the Rodimus Unicronus and Nemesis Hot Rod are Prime Wars story choices.  Prior names were like a combination of trademarking and BotCon making their own thing up.  But, now that it has been established, some uniformity would be nice.

Yeah when I read "Rodimus Unicronus" I expect the counterpart to Rodimus Prime. So a leader class of just the cab part from the commander figure. That figure could probably be released as a leader on it's own. I also like that figure far more than the Hot Rod figure. I just don't want another of that trailer. Not that I hate it or anything as it's a good trailer, it's just that it doesn't really do anything.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter though as I'll still use PotP Rodimus Unicronus and Nemesis Prime as my versions. The decepticons got full on upgrades when Unicron got to them but Optimus only got a redeco for the WFC series. That's lame. So in my little world when Unicron got to the Primes, they got powered up "brute" like forms from their trailers due to their connection to the Matrix. Now I just need Hasbro to go back to the PotP Optimal Optimus mold to not only make Primal Prime but to finish the trio with a Nemesis Primal too. Throne of the Primes Optimus Primal could work as a stand in I guess. I could just repaint it myself but I already said how unmotivated I am to do customs anymore. Even one that wouldn't need too much work.

Titanium Menasor came out before SG Hot Rod though and was literally meant to be the fractured combiner personality of Menasor but in a single body. Same for Classics Menasor in it was always meant to be Menasor. Only the unreleased Universe Menasor was given the name as the intended name of "Motormaster" wasn't available in 2003 and wasn't for a while after. So those wouldn't count as SG Roddy or Rodimus Unicronus. For that matter, Hot Rod had a black redeco long before SG Hot Rod was a thing. It's just Hot Rod in black.

"Rodimus Unicronus" is what it was called in the first look video. IDK it they made that up, or was informed of the name from the source. At the end of the day, the toy can be just about anything they feel like calling it. Looking at SG Slicer, this is way closer to Unicronus than that was. But that's the license they have with Generations. OH, and thanks for bringing that up. I totally forgot about the Black Hot Rod, I have that with the clear one. There was also Lucky Draw Black Rodimus, and the MP-9B Black Rodimus.
