I wanna know more about the animation errors that they fixed.

Like in MTMTE is it still a loop that makes it look like Prime is ordering the Decepticons to attack when they raid The Ark?

Does Ironhide still transform and back away from battle?

Will we still have multiple Starscreams in so many shots?

The set does look good and I'd like to support these guys. If they went that extra mile, I'll sell my Rhinos. If not, I'll just be content with what I have.

The complete set looks great though!

doesn't look much different from the rhino versions.. doesn't seem like I'll be picking this thing up. Not much G1 can offer me these days anyway. Its fun to watch and laugh at, but thats about it.

Note the presence of Rhino sound effects... :tfsad Shout says the clips were produced before their own DVDs were complete, but I'm this close to cancelling my Matrix pre-order just in case.

Man, if those stupid effects are still present, I'm not going to be happy. I hated that aspect of the Rhino DVDs. Those clips are nice, but I wish they would highlight what they supposedly changed.

edit: Looks like they used the original masters (with Rhino sounds) for these clips. WTF? Why bother putting those up if it's not indicative of the final product?

wat do you mean by "Rhino sounds" exactly?

Basically laser effects and other scifi-like sounds. Believe me, when you hear it, you will know what we are talking about. I believe one of the clips (from MTMTE Part 3) has a good example. The battle between Optimus and Megatron is fraught with them.

edit: check clip 3 for a few examples.

Why is it in preview clip 4 you hear Sparkplugs voice over Ratchets animation. I don't remember that in the orginal Rhino set. I have that original Rhino complete set, I doubt this new collection is going to be worth the double dip. Only a completest will feel they got their moneys worth on this set. I never got the whole "Rhino SFX" complaint. They never bothered me. As far as old commercials and PSA's, there's always youtube. Oh well.

That was a mistake from the original. If you watch enough of the old series, you will notice several others.

As for Rhino vs Shout, this is great for people that missed out on the Rhino releases. Those were released at least 5 years ago if memory serves. Plus it can be a pain to acquire the full Rhino set. I remember when the Rhino sets were going for at least $40 a pop on eBay. I'm not sure if that still persists.

In regards to the SFX, it just comes down to tainting the original. Most people want the G1 episodes for nostalgic reasons. Those whacky SFX were NOT in the original broadcasts. Not to mention the SFX are rather pointless. They really add very little substance to the shows, if any at all. I'd rather see Shout fix animation coloring errors. While that does make the eps different from the original, the fixes actually contribute to the viewing experience. I'm sure people will appreciate this more than those annoying SFX from Rhino.

I agree this will be great for those who missed out on the Rhino releases. I just feel the changes however aren't enough for me to want to purchase them. I grew up in the 1980's (born in78) and the SFX never bothered me.

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
