#1676687 G1 Transformers

Posted by dura_grip on 21 May 2015 - 03:31 AM

I want a Shockwave and Computron. I'm considering the knockoffs being sold online. However, just knowing that they are not official releases would bring them down in my mind.

Are knockoffs collectible?

#1671741 Collector Interview 26 for TFsource - Paul "Spacebridge" Hitchens

Posted by Maz on 28 June 2014 - 02:38 PM

I would have waited an eternity for this. Paul Hitchens is one of the most recognisable names (and faces) in the Transformers collecting community, not just because of his numerous and significant contributions to conventions, the community, the discovery and cataloguing of variants, rarities, prototypes and history of Transformers animation, but also as a representative of the community and the brand in various media including TV, DVD, radio, print and publications. He is as well known for being a long time collector and enthusiast as he is for being one of the most reputable and enduring toy dealers in the business, The Spacebridge. Beyond all of these things, he is someone I look up to as a close friend, a father, a level-headed collector and someone I'd ask for advice given just about any situation, collecting or otherwise. It is a credit to him that his interview is probably the most anticipated of any before, and it's a credit to me that I was finally able to get him to agree to it!
Because of Paul's long standing in the community, I have asked him to describe how the scene has changed in the last 15 years as opposed to the normal 10 years I ask all interviewees, and it's also why he's the only one allowed to use sub-headings! Bring it, Hitch.
All the best

#1671479 So, where is everybody?

Posted by Blitz-Wing on 19 June 2014 - 03:55 PM

Got tired of Transformers overall.  Pretty much sold off my entire collection and just reminisce with show marathons now and then.  Seeing what has been coming out from AOE has solidified my choice to escape the TF universe.

#1670813 So, where is everybody?

Posted by siburke939 on 23 May 2014 - 09:14 AM

the toy lines became more quantity than quality & i got sick of buying like 12 bumblebee repaints per movie - the generations stuff is nice but sadly a lot of it doesn't see the shelves in the UK :-( oh yeah & my life took a new direction so priorities change a bit & all that - i'm getting married this year! :-)

i think facebook is killing forums - it's so easy to get info & keep in touch on there that forums seem a little redundant in some ways

anyway hi everyone :-)

Ended up moving, got married, parents died, almost died myself, lost our house, moved again, almost lost my wife to pneumonia and a bad hospital, moved yet again, got laid off, and we're looking to move ONE MORE TIME!

At least I don't live in the Northeast anymore.

#1669205 Ambassadors Part 1 - TFSource Article

Posted by Maz on 25 February 2014 - 04:30 PM

A lot of time has been spent discussing the rarest or most expensive members of Transformers categories and sub-lines in this column, but this week I’ve asked some of the most respected and knowledgeable collectors in the community to nominate one toy from their assigned category that they believe best represents that toy line. One toy that, in their opinion, embodies a category’s best qualities, essence and could conceivably be used to sell the toy line to a non-believer or non-collector.
The question they were asked was as follows:
“What toy would you choose to represent an entire toy line, if you had ONE choice, one toy you could pitch to a non-collector in order to sell the line?”.

Anyone who buys and supports MP KO's are also responsible for aiding in the destruction of this line.  The only reason we are seeing so many MPs is because of the stronger than expected sales numbers.  When people start turning to KO's (and if this company grows they will make more and more until people learn to just wait for them) sales numbers drop and say good bye to the MP line.

This is a KO of the toy that got crap distribution in the US, and not sells for $200+ on the secondary market. If Hasbro wants to sell them they should put them on store shelves. Otherwise, they can suck it.

#1667382 FT Scoria (Slag) and two others

Posted by Transbot90210 on 15 November 2013 - 09:20 AM

FansToys (FT) has finally revealed their next offer in full prototype form.  Slag which they will call Scoria and one will assume he will be in MP scale like Quakewave.

Also interesting to note is that there is a silhouette of Swoop and what I figure is Jetfire.

Looks like FT will be giving us the MP Dinobots and Jetfire and judging by their Quakewave release, they will win the MP wars for these figures.

Pictures coming when I can find them.

Update NOVEMBER 16, 2013.

#1665601 Just Say Yes - TFSource Article

Posted by Maz on 27 August 2013 - 04:45 PM

“You’re stubborn as f**k and when people recommend things you deliberately avoid them”. Wise words from an old mushroom to his friend. You can’t really blame me, though, there’s just far too much to follow and give time to in the world of Transformers. Between the animated shows, the comics, vintage toys, modern toys, high-end collectibles, forums and intra-community ‘responsibilities’ – not to mention real life – picking up something new normally requires the dropping of something else. So what’s worth your time?
